First Year of Baseball

This year Aubrey graduated from t-ball to baseball. She was lucky enough to be on a team that was made mostly up of kids (it's still boys and girls together) from her school and our pastor was her coach. We spent lots of time practicing before games even started, both at home and with her team. It was an adjustment hitting from a tee to someone throwing the ball at you. Some of her games the coaches pitched and some of the games they used a pitching machine. She got the hang of coach pitching pretty well, but really struggled with hitting from the pitching machine. She went through a slump in the middle of the season where she went several games without hitting. It was very hard as a parent to watch your child go up to bat and not hit at all. She got to the point where she would say that she was terrible at batting. I kept trying to encourage her and tell her that she had to have confidence in herself. I finally got Calvin to work with her once and after that she did much better. By the end of the season, she was hitting at least once or twice a game from the pitching machine. She loved it and can't wait to play again next year. Music to my ears! :)
