VBS

This week we've had VBS at church. I'm in charge of games, Aubrey has been going with her class, and Chloe's been going to the nursery. It's been a lot of fun and Aubrey has really enjoyed it too. I just realized today that she is the only 3-year old in her class (she's in the 3- and 4-year old class). She's been doing pretty good, although she is very quiet and shy. She really likes going though and there hasn't been any crying. Yeah!

Chloe has been really funny lately! She now yells "No!" at anyone who's doing something she doesn't like. She's also started to "read" some of her books. She'll make sounds and turn pages and she looks through books. She's such a character!

Father's Day

We celebrated Father's Day by going over to Brad and Ang's house for dinner. The girls had a blast playing with their cousins, while Calvin had fun playing with Brad's Wii. It was nice to be able to take a break from all of the busyness and spend time with one another.

Rosie Posie

We have a large number of cats, none of which are tame, but last week one of our kittens got stranded at the house for several days. Aubrey and Chloe loved it and Aubrey named it Rosie Posie. We were finally able to pet it after a couple of days. My plan was to feed it in order to get it tame so that the girls could have a cat to pet, but Calvin was not thrilled with the idea of having a cat always hanging around the house. So I was able to catch it and carry it back to the barn. I haven't seen it since, so I'm sure it's back to being wild again. :(

Church Picnic

Two weeks ago we had our annual church picnic. The weather was absolutely beautiful! It's usually either rainy and cold or unbearably hot and windy, but that day was perfect. We had church outside, which I love. There's just something about worshipping God with others outside on a beautiful day. The theme for the picnic this year was "God Bless America". We (the Wagners) entered a float, which turned out really cute! We also had a program that the school children put on. Aubrey's been going to Sunday School, so she was able to be part of the preschool part of the program. She did very well and sang her songs, though I think it was kind of a shock for her to be in front of all of those people. :) The girls enjoyed playing games, eating food, and playing with their cousins. It was such a great day!

Updates

Aubrey lately has been loving to play house and babies. I'm usually either the grandma, babysitter, or "big girl", while she is always the mom. She has such a great imagination! She also has started talking about her friends and how much she misses them. The other day she told me that she just needs her friends to play with. How cute is that? We also signed her up for the library read-to-me program. We've checked out eighteen books so far to help her reach her goal of twenty for the month of June. She's also been getting herself up in the morning instead of laying in bed crying for me. She'll come downstairs on her own and even go potty by herself. It's so nice, except when it's 6:30 a.m. and I just want to sleep a little longer! I've also started telling her that she has to stay in bed during naptime until there's a certain number in the front of her clock (like a 4 for 4:00 p.m.). She likes to put her clock right on her pillow so she can watch it and see when she can get up. Yesterday she came down to the basement where Calvin and I were working. I asked her what she was doing up, and she said that there was a 4 on her clock. Duh! Today she was asleep and missed the 5 when she could get up. I got her up instead.

Chloe has been infatuated with Aubrey for the past couple of weeks. The first thing she says when she wakes up is, "Where Aubrey?". She loves to follow Aubrey around and do everything she does. Aubrey of course does not find this so much fun and gets very annoyed to have Chloe follow her everywhere. I've tried explaining to her that Chloe just loves her so much and wants to be with her, but Aubrey doesn't quite get that. I'm still holding out that they'll become friends in a few years and play together. Chloe is also going to be our animal lover. She loves Tess and watching for the cows and goats. She also loves Eileen's dog and cats. She'll follow the cats around trying to pet them saying "kitty, kitty". Calvin is excited thinking that she'll be the one to definitely show cows when she gets old enough for 4-H.

Tess's New 'Do

So I just had to post a few pictures of our dog Tess. On Saturday, Calvin decided to shave (cut/trim/clip - not really sure of the correct terminology) Tess to try and make her cooler. I held her for a half an hour while he clipped on her and we only got about 1/3 of the way done. I quickly lost interest, but he worked on it the next couple of days until he was finally done. I think she looks hilarious, because her hair is all white and short, plus she looks skinny without all of her hair. I told Calvin he should go into the dog grooming business. He didn't think that was such a great idea. :)

Playing at the Park

The Crescent City park is one of Aubrey's favorite places to play, so last Friday I took the girls and my two nieces there to play. It wasn't too hot and the sun wasn't too strong, so the slides and things were cool enough to play on. The girls had a blast climbing on things, swinging, and going down slides. Aubrey even went down the tunnel slide with me and Chloe.

Chloe's Big Girl Haircut

A couple of weeks ago I came to the realization that Chloe needed a haircut to even her hair up. She's had her hair cut once, but I didn't let Betty cut the sides, because they were so long and it made her hair look even longer. But lately I've been noticing how bad it looked when it was down, so I decided to finally get it all cut. Last week we went to Grandma Wagner's house and both girls had their hair cut. Chloe went first and actually sat on the chair by herself. She wasn't so sure at first, but once I started feeding her fruit snacks, she was fine. (That girl will do anything for food! :) Aubrey just got hers trimmed. She wants to keep hers long. The end results for Chloe were awesome. I should have done it a long time ago. She looks like a big girl now with a little bob cut. It's really cute!
