Christmas

On Christmas Eve, we came home from my parents', I put Coye down for a nap, and then I started getting the girls ready. Once he got up, we ate a quick supper before heading to church - the kids, even Coye, were in the Sunday School service. Coye sang two songs with the other preschoolers. He did a good job standing up there and trying to sing his songs. Eileen is their teacher and she had no one to help her with the eight children ranging from 2-4 in age, so I helped her entertain them before it was their turn to go up. Talk about exhausting! The girls were part of the group who stood in the front of the church most of the service and were also part of the nativity - Aubrey was an angel and Chloe was a shepherd. Aubrey also played piano. After the service, we came home, took pictures, and went to bed.

When the kids got up on Christmas Day, we got dressed to go to church, ate a quick breakfast, and then let them open their gifts in their stockings. Aubrey played another song in church - a different one this time. After church was over, we came home, changed, and then opened presents. The kids were so good about being patient, although they were so excited. Aubrey's favorite presents were her cow feed pan and brushes, basketball, book light, watch, and stationary set. Chloe's favorite presents were her American Girl doll outfit and brush and her new gray boots. Coye's favorite present hands down was his train table. (That was all he said he wanted for Christmas was trains -he didn't have any.) Calvin surprised me with a new sewing machine - I didn't even ask for one but was thrilled. Mine was Calvin's grandma's old one that still worked but had a few issues. I can't wait to sew with it. After opening presents, we snacked and played with new toys, and then headed to Calvin's aunt's house for another Christmas.
