The girls and I went on vacation with my parents, sister, and brother and his family the end of July to Williamsburg, Virginia. It's about a fourteen hour drive from my house, so we did it in stages and took three days to get there. The first night we spent at my parents' house and the second was in a hotel. The girls did really well in the car. The second day Chloe fussed for a while until she realized that she wasn't getting out of her carseat, and it did no good to cry about it. Aubrey was awesome and spent most of her time coloring or watching movies. She is such a great traveler! My goal was to drive seven hours the second day so that the third day we wouldn't have far to go. We ended up driving a little over 500 miles that day! As we were driving on an interstate in the mountains in Virginia, we came upon an accident that had just happened. A semi truck carrying sewer piping lost control, flipped over, and lost his load of pipes into the other oncoming lanes of traffic. When we pulled up, the truck was laying on its side. Within five minutes, it started on fire and then exploded twice. We ended up being there for about an hour and a half waiting for them to clean up the mess. We were close enough that Dad walked up to the accident scene three times! The girls had a blast playing in the car and being out of their car seats. After that we still had to eat and then find a place to stay. Needless to say, it was a long day! We were so glad to have a short day on Friday and to finally get to Williamsburg!
