Head is Down!

I had my 35 week doctor's appointment today. My friend and doula Tami went with me to meet my doctor and discuss a few questions that I had. I, of course, started the morning with an NST. The baby did great and was very active, which meant that I didn't have to stay hooked up too long. After that, we went to a room to wait for my doctor. At my appointment two weeks ago, the doctor felt and told me that the baby was breech. For the past couple of weeks, I've been trying not to worry about it too much, but I was really hoping for some good news today. After my doctor measured me and did my culture, she checked me to see where the head was. She said that the head was definitely down. What a relief! I was really hoping to be able to VBAC again this time. She also said that I was 40% effaced and dilated to a 1 already. We discussed the possibility that I could go into labor at anytime, which made me realize that I need to finish getting the baby's stuff together. Hopefully Dani and I will have some time on Friday or Monday to work on that. I can't believe that in 5 weeks or less I will finally meet my little peanut. Where has the time gone!

Baby Update

As of today, I am officially 34 weeks. It's crazy how time has flown by! I can't believe that I only have 6 weeks left. I bought a carseat and stroller while at mom's this past weekend, so I feel better about having at least one thing crossed off my list. Now hopefully it will rain this weekend so Calvin will be around to help me set the nursery back up. Everything has been going pretty well. I feel good, except for being tired, but that's normal. I am on weekly non-stress tests (NST) because of my previous c-section with Aubrey. They have let me schedule my actual doctor's appointments every two weeks though, which is nice so I don't have to wait around and see the doctor every time. The NST's have gone well. During the one this week, I swear the baby moved at least 20 times in the first 5 minutes. Needless to say, I didn't have to stay hooked up for very long. At my doctor's appointment last week, I was measuring right on target, but the baby was breech - head up with butt down and feet out to the side. This caught me off guard - I hadn't really thought about what would happen if I had another breech baby. I'm just hoping this child will turn and get in the head down position soon. I'd really like to avoid having a c-section, especially since I was able to successfully VBAC with Chloe. We'll see what happens though. Most important is to have a healthy baby no matter what the delivery is like.

32 Weeks and Loving It!

As of last Wednesday, I had exactly 8 weeks left until my due date. When you think of it in terms of 2 months, it seems like quite a while, but when you consider the fact that it's only 56 days, it doesn't seem like that long at all. While I'm excited to meet this little baby growing inside me, part of me is also a little sad. I absolutely love being pregnant and am not sure that I'm ready to be done with this stage of my life. I love feeling the baby move inside me. I love how my body is helping grow another little human being. I love how excited the girls are when they feel the baby kick and how they love to sit on my lap, rub my belly, and talk to the baby. I love seeing my belly grow, knowing there's a good reason for it. While everything has started getting a little tighter and sometimes a little uncomfortable, I still love carrying this child. With the girls, I never got to that super uncomfortable point where I couldn't wait for them to be born. Maybe I will with this one, but I'm definitely not there yet.

Baby Hiccups

I woke up last night to the sound of Aubrey coughing. For the past couple of nights, she's been coughing in her sleep. It doesn't seem to bother her too much (she stays asleep), but it sure is hard to listen to your child cough over and over again and know there's not much you can do about it. So after laying in bed listening to her (our room is right underneath hers) for a while, I decided to go upstairs and try putting more Vicks on her chest and give her another drink. She was sleeping when I went up there so I had to wake her up to do both of those, plus got her pillows propped back up. She fell right back asleep and I went back to bed. As soon as I laid down, the baby started moving around. Then I realized that among all this movement, the baby also had hiccups. It was a pretty cool feeling. When I was pregnant with the girls, they had the hiccups ALL the time. It was usually at least once a day that they would have them, so I thought it was very strange that this baby had not had the hiccups at all yet. I continued to lay there trying to go to sleep, feeling the baby move, and listening to Aubrey cough. I finally got up again and took her a small piece of peppermint candy cane (I'm way too scared to give her a cough drop). After sitting there for a few minutes to make sure she wasn't going to choke, I went back to bed again. The peppermint seemed to help, because Aubrey quit coughing as much, but the baby wasn't ready to go back to sleep yet. He/she continued to kick and move around for quite a while longer. Don't get me wrong - I'm thankful for an active baby, but last night I was pretty tired and just wanted to go back to sleep. I'm so thankful to my husband who fed and dressed Chloe who was up at 7 a.m. this morning. It was so nice to sleep for a little while longer before having to get up.

Weeks 21 & 22

I'm finally starting to actually look pregnant, so I had Calvin take a few pictures to prove that I really am having a baby. :)

Baby Wagner

Today I went for another ultrasound. During my ultrasound two weeks ago, the tech was unable to get all of the measurements she needed because the baby was wiggling around too much. This time the baby was much more cooperative, and she was able to get all the things that she needed. While the baby was cooperative for measurements, we had a hard time getting any good "pictures" since the baby was faced inward. The tech had to poke and prod to get the baby to finally flip around so we could get some better pictures. The baby looked great and that little heart was beating strong. My mother-in-law went with me and the girls of course. Aubrey loved watching again and is taking the pictures to school tomorrow to show her teacher and friends. It's so cute how excited she is! I still refused to find out what we're having, although Calvin is trying very hard to convince me how much easier it would be if we just knew. :)

New Year, New Baby

As most of you know, Calvin and I are expecting another baby around May 25th. We are so excited! The girls, especially, are so happy to be having a baby. They absolutely love babies and taking care of them. I'm not saying that they won't have some adjustment to do when the baby's born, but all in all, they generally love having babies around and are such good helpers. It's also nice that several of my friends have had babies the past few months, so my girls are used to being around babies. My pregnancy so far has been really great! The first few months were a little stressful - just wondering and praying that everything was going as it should be, but other than a little tiredness, I have been very blessed to feel good. I am now 21 weeks and can't believe that I am already halfway through my pregnancy. It's just crazy how the time has flown by! I'm about the same size as I was when I carried both girls. For a while it concerned me that I wasn't very big, but after having my ultrasound and being reassured that the baby really is fine, I realize that this is just the way I carry babies. I finally put away my normal jeans this week and have graduated into mostly maternity clothes (except for sweats and t-shirts). I've found that while I have tons of stuff to wear to church, my everyday wardrobe is lacking a little. (With both girls, I was teaching - hence the maternity wardrobe being mostly dress clothes.) Thank goodness for friends who have loaned me some things so I don't have to go out and buy a brand new wardrobe.

Last week we had our big ultrasound. We went in the evening, because it worked out best for Calvin. That meant though, that we had to go to the hospital to have it. Their printer was broken and they didn't have a screen on the wall, so it was harder for me to see, but I was still able to see that precious little baby moving around inside my belly. It was so great and reassuring to see the heart beating and to see everything present that was supposed to be there. We took the girls with us so that they could see the baby on "TV". Aubrey was completely enthralled, while Chloe got a little bored after a while. They got to see the baby sucking his/her thumb, which was pretty cool. Calvin really wanted to find out what we are having, but I love the element of surprise and don't want to know. I personally just feel blessed to be having another baby, regardless of the sex. But since I haven't let him find out ever with any of our kids, I told him that he could find out provided that he doesn't tell me. He's allowed to tell one person, but it can't be me (there's lots of people who are vying to be his one). :) He's afraid that he's not going to be able to keep it a secret so he didn't find out that night we went. I did have the tech write it on a piece of paper, which she proceeded to tape shut and give to him in case he changes his mind. The paper is now in his night stand and I have no idea if he's looked or not. I'd rather keep it that way. Then I don't have to judge his every reaction and try to determine what it means. Anyways, the baby ended up moving around so much that the tech wasn't able to get all of the measurements she needed. I go back next week for another one and hopefully will get pictures this time. This baby moves ALL the time, so I really wasn't surprised to see how much he/she did move. While some people tell me I better watch out for an active child, I just see it as God's way of reassuring me that everything is okay with the baby. I'd rather have that than be wondering all the time if something is wrong. The girls and Calvin have been able to feel the baby move, and the girls especially love it! What can I say - I feel so blessed in this new year!
